Description : UNO students from Dr. Strasser’s PSYC-1010: Introduction to Psychology has been working with students from Uta Halee Academy. The Uta Halee students have been learning about implicit biases throughout the semester. UNO students and Uta Halee students worked independently as a class to create TikToks as their final project about implicit bias and happiness. Description : UNO Students from Casey Riesberg's CMST 3130: Business and Professions course will partner with Phoenix Academy this fall to provide formal presentations on professional soft skills for 7th and 8th grade students. UNO Students will visit the Phoenix Academy for a tour and introductions with students in September and will return in November for their formal presentations.

Description : UNO Young Scholars, under the direction of Aaron Krueger, have partnered with Ms. Jennifer Magnuson-Stessman's fourth-grade students from Washington Elementary School. The students will be involved in a panel style discussion relating to the college experience. This project reinforces the goals of the Young Scholars to perform service in the community that coincides with their college experience. They ‘adopt’ the Washington classroom and get to speak and answer student questions during the semester.   P-16 Project

Description : UNO Students from CMST 1110 Fundamentals of Public Speaking courses will engage in the student philanthropy model of service learning, where course content and student learning is linked to charitable giving. Students select and research a community agency of their own interest, then develop and present a persuasive speech and call to action on behalf of the organization. This is a student led initiative, giving students a $1,000 grant to distribute to one community agency - the persuasive speech presentation with the best call to action.

UNO students will engage with LCC families weekly via Zoom to explore topics of individual interest that cover technology, educational support, and overall wellness to better support their children during remote learning in the COVID-19 pandemic. Description : UNO Students from Dr. Sandra Rodriguez-Arroyo's TED 2050: Intro to Teaching ESL course will work with families from the Learning Community Center of South Omaha in a hybrid format over a 6-week period. Students will develop and faciliate lesson plans with families covering reading literacy, parent connection resources, emotional wellness, college readiness, UNO campus life, and goal setting.
