Description : UNO students enrolled in Kersten Borer's SOWK 1500-002: Social Work and Civic Engagement, will facilitate discussions at Dr. Musil's 10th grade English class to help his students understand the importance of mental health. Additionally, NAMI-Nebraska brings their Ending the Silence presentation to Papillion La-Vista South HS for HS students there that the UNO students also attend. The students create a collaborative project collecting letters for NAMI Nebraska and The Pony Express for Mental Health Awareness Month in May 2022. These letters are shared with the Nebraska governor and elected officials to bring awareness around mental health.

Description : UNO Young Scholars, led by Aaron Krueger, will serve as panelists for Jennifer Magnuson-Stressman’s 4th-grade Washington Elementary students. As panelists, the UNO students will offer their expertise on college and career readiness. The elementary students will prepare questions beforehand and then have the chance to understand what college is like from current college students. In the spring, the UNO students will take the 4th-graders on a campus tour and host an end-of-the-year picnic.

Description : UNO students in this online class conducted virtual 10–15-minute interviews with African American individuals in the Great Plans area. Students had the opportunity to explore the personal impact the pandemic has had on them and their careers. Description : UNO music students in Zac Colby's Vocal Pedagogy class will be providing voice lessons to students at Benson High School through Microsoft Teams. Description : UNO students enrolled in Lyn Holley's GERO 4480/8486: Comparative Global Aging, will meet with a same-country elder and together carry out a systematic brief life review interview which is the foundation for writing for the elder and their family a brief life story. The student and elder survey the elder's neighborhood and assess its "age friendliness". The student develops recommendations for improvements and develops a presentation about the project that describes improvements needed and justifies the recommendations made.

Description : Students from the UNO Teacher Scholars Academy are partnering with fifth grade students from Crestridge Magnet School to research the impacts of redlining in Omaha. The students are working with Inclusive Communities and The Union for Contemporary Art to learn about redlining before participating in a series of Table Talks, where students will present to community members and school administrators about what they learned. Description : UNO students in Dana Richter-Egger's General Chemistry II course are working in groups to develop a collection of hands-on, inquiry-based, science activities for the Girl Scouts of Nebraska. The activities are designed to ignite girls’ interest in science and curiosity in the world, and the UNO students will present the activities during a series of virtual workshops that Girl Scout troops will attend. Description : UNO School Counseling students in Dr. Elizabeth Tolliver’s COUN 8330: Counseling Practicum course are partner with Outward Bound to provide summer school programming for Howard Kennedy Elementary School students. The UNO students work directly with the elementary school students to build problem-solving, collaboration, and self-reflection skills. They meet with Howard Kennedy students throughout the summer to gain experience applying their classroom curriculum in a school setting. COUN 8330 P-16 Project
