Description : UNO students enrolled in Kersten Borer's SOWK 1500-002: Social Work and Civic Engagement, will facilitate discussions at Dr. Musil's 10th grade English class to help his students understand the importance of mental health. Additionally, NAMI-Nebraska brings their Ending the Silence presentation to Papillion La-Vista South HS for HS students there that the UNO students also attend. The students create a collaborative project collecting letters for NAMI Nebraska and The Pony Express for Mental Health Awareness Month in May 2022. These letters are shared with the Nebraska governor and elected officials to bring awareness around mental health.

Description : UNO students enrolled in Lyn Holley's GERO 4480/8486: Comparative Global Aging, will meet with a same-country elder and together carry out a systematic brief life review interview which is the foundation for writing for the elder and their family a brief life story. The student and elder survey the elder's neighborhood and assess its "age friendliness". The student develops recommendations for improvements and develops a presentation about the project that describes improvements needed and justifies the recommendations made.
