Description :
The Juvenile Justice Institute will work collaboratively with Legal Aid of Nebraska to empirically examine the impact of civil legal services, mentoring, and reentry planning provided by the Juvenile Reentry Project to youth who are reentering the community after an out-of-home placement. JJI will collaborate with Legal Aid on all elements of conducting, assigning, recruiting, researching, and sharing the evaluation goals and objectives. The initiative currently provides civil legal services to youth, however, JJI will work with the program to randomly assign mentors to youth legal aid works with. The outcomes of youth assigned a mentor will be tested to examine whether youth with mentors have improved outcomes as compared to youth who did not receive a mentor.
