Description : This e-Learning course was designed in collaboration with the University of Nebraska Omaha’s School of Health and Kinesiology with funding from CHI Health. This information is intended for classroom teachers, after school providers, and other youth-serving organizations looking to increase classroom physical activity. While this information will always be applicable, special consideration was paid to current COVID-19 restrictions, including how to include physical activity in a virtual classroom setting. We were able to partner with Dr. Dinkel and her student researcher in order to develop these modules and share them out on our FB and website. These modules were shared out to our building partners and our OPS partners to share with their contacts in order to make classroom physical activities COVID safe.

The students created and launch the website which is useful for our SOT members. It is a fully operational website where people can learn more about SOT. This is not something that TWP would have been able to launch or produce without the help of SLA and the students since the economic impact was $5000. share-our-table.org"

Description : Becky Brusky's STATS 1100 class were tasked with researching and innovating ideas on how to do data collection for our safe routes to school program. The students came up with innovative ideas to collect data from students that walk, roll, or bike to school. We know surveys are not preferred and there were some ideas that we would like to engage a future SLA class with. TWP will explore the idea of developing an app if an SLA class comes up and has the ability to do this. The idea came from the students themselves which would be a great app for the community.

Description : Our library has seen an increasing demand for LGBTQIA health materials but our newest print book was from 2001! In the ever-changing health science fields, we needed to connect patrons with quality, up-to-date sources. Come hear how we took a machete to our print collection, clearing the way to reinvent our R-RZ call range as well as improving our relationship with the LGBTQIA campus community. We will share our policies, procedures, assessment, and next steps. Attendees will be encouraged to share their experiences (triumphs or horror stories!) regarding LGBTQIA collections so we can all make strides to provide better access.

Description : Every year, the UNO Service Learning Academy (SLA) brings P-12 and UNO educators together to learn and understand the value of service learning. Participants increase awareness of the Omaha community, their needs, assets, personnel, and practice. Participants demonstrate an understanding of the Pre-K-12 Service-Learning Standards for Quality Practice (NYLC, 2008). Participants understand the benefits of service learning and its connections to other key frameworks such as AAC&U High Impact Practices, 40 Developmental Assets, 21st Century Skills, and standards-driven curriculum. UNO, P-12, after-school program faculty, and community partners build collaborative relationships and begin service learning project planning. Participants are prepared to create quality service learning experiences.
