Description : This research presents inconclusive findings on how network positions of firms, such as structural holes or closeness centrality in alliances, boost innovation performance. Additional clarity on this question can be gained by introducing contextual factors in an analysis of a firm’s network position. Drawing upon social network and institutional theory, Xiaoming Yang and others conducted an analysis that considers a firm’s structural position in its network and the level of institutional environment.
