Description : UNO students worked with North High Magnet Students to understand the population changes and immigration in the Omaha communities. They used Flipgrid to create an environment to discuss topics such as Redlining in Omaha. Description : Every year, the UNO Service Learning Academy (SLA) brings P-12 and UNO educators together to learn and understand the value of service learning. Participants increase awareness of the Omaha community, their needs, assets, personnel, and practice. Participants demonstrate an understanding of the Pre-K-12 Service-Learning Standards for Quality Practice (NYLC, 2008). Participants understand the benefits of service learning and its connections to other key frameworks such as AAC&U High Impact Practices, 40 Developmental Assets, 21st Century Skills, and standards-driven curriculum. UNO, P-12, after-school program faculty, and community partners build collaborative relationships and begin service learning project planning. Participants are prepared to create quality service learning experiences.

Description : Students from the UNO Teacher Scholars Academy are partnering with fifth grade students from Crestridge Magnet School to research the impacts of redlining in Omaha. The students are working with Inclusive Communities and The Union for Contemporary Art to learn about redlining before participating in a series of Table Talks, where students will present to community members and school administrators about what they learned. Description : UNO's Intro to Psychology (Thompson Learning Community)and Uta Halee students will work together to create podcasts for The Union for Contemporary Art’s Undesign the Redline around identified topics from The Union. The focus will be “How to have tough conversation around the identified topics.” Eachpodcast will be approximately 5 minutes. The goal of this project is to teach how to have tough conversations by setting up norms and ground rules.
