Description : Dr. Walls’ Spanish for Heritage Speakers (SPAN 3010) class and Ms. Katrina Jacobberger students from Norris Middle School will collaborate this spring semester with the South Omaha Library to put up a special event for El Dia del Niño, a Mexican holiday celebration children. Students will work together on creating cultural stations to tie in the cultural/heritage piece to the event. This will also bridge an opportunity for students to practice their Spanish skills with other students and the community.

Description : Diversity in Action: The Spanish for Heritage Speakers (SPAN 3010) class and students from Norris Middle School collaborated with the OPL South Branch to plan a special event for El Dia del Nino. the Mexican holiday celebration of children. Students worked at the library creating stations to tie in the cultural/heritage piece of the event. Students researched their assigned region to display information. crafts. and treats representing each region. This project was also an opportunity for students to practice their Spanish skills with other students and the South Omaha community.
