User Experience Design (Spring 2019): 2018-19 (1082) Economic Impact, Environmental Stewardship City of Omaha, Metropolitan Area Planning Agency (MAPA) Service Learning Academy (SLA) Service Learning Course None Spring 2018-19 Spring 2018-19 6 120 0 0 0 0 Transportation Students in the class will work to develop prototypes of innovative technologies that seek to answer the question: "What would make the Omaha metro area a better place to live?" The focus of the project will be to develop technologies that enable equitable access to housing and transportation, as identified by the community partners. Students will go through the whole UCD process including contextual inquiry with experts in urban planning and development to community and neighborhood leaders to determine user needs. At the end of the semester, they will develop and test prototypes for technologies that help address identified goals.
Ozone Garden (Spring 2019): 2018-19 (1061) Environmental Stewardship Bryan High School, Omaha Public Schools, Metropolitan Area Planning Agency (MAPA) Service Learning Academy (SLA) Service Learning Course None Spring 2018-19 Spring 2018-19 24 528 0 0 0 0 Gardens/Plantlife Throughout the spring semester, UNO students from Professor Grant’s Introduction to Sustainability course will work with Bryan High School students in partnership with Metropolitan Area Planning Agency (MAPA) on the Ozone Garden Project. UNO and Bryan students will use handheld ozone monitors to measure ozone concentrations in the air at school's idling zones. In addition, they will meet to develop a communication project which will inform campus users about air quality and maintaining an idle free zone.

Over 20 sustainability-related organizations from the Omaha-Metro area will be on hand to discuss with attendees the work that they do as well as providing information about how individuals can get involved in their efforts.
