In this course, students will have an opportunity to explore the role and contribution of elders to development of the US, gain an understanding of cultural, historic, social, economic and political factors that shape aspects of aging and the experience of being old generally and within racial/ethnic/cultural groups including African American Black, American Indian, Asian American, and Hispanic American, examine the relevance and effectiveness of current societal structures and service systems.
