Loudspeakers (Spring 2017): 2016-17 Educational Support Harvey Oaks Elementary Service Learning Academy (SLA), Thompson Learning Community Service Learning Course None Spring 2016-17 None None 16 32 0 11 71 0 Marlina Davidson's Fundamentals in Public Speaking teamed up with Harvey Oaks Elementary School after-school program "Loudspeakers" to develop public speaking skills.  UNO students facilitated lessons on speech development, research, delivery, and visuals. The project culminated with Harvey Oaks students presenting final speeches for their parents.
Loud Speakers Club (Spring 2018): 2017-18 Environmental Stewardship Harvey Oaks Elementary, Keep Omaha Beautiful Communication, Service Learning Academy (SLA) Service Learning Course None Spring 2017-18 None None 19 247 0 15 285 0 Gardens/Plantlife This project will introduce 3rd and 4th grade students at Harvey Oaks Elementary School to public speaking and concepts developed from the nonprofit Keep Omaha Beautiful. Students choose a topic provided by Keep Omaha Beautiful to research and present at the end of the year. These topics include glass recycling, curbside recycling, household hazardous waste among other topics. While learning how to be environmentally friendly, students are introduced to concepts of speech making and public speaking. UNO students will assist students in the speech making process and provide help doing research. Harvey Oaks students will film a short 30 second Public Service Announcement for Keep Omaha Beautiful on their topics to provide them assistance in marketing the organization.
