Burgstahler is an affiliate professor in Education and the director of Accessible Technology Services at the University of Washington in Seattle. She is the author of Universal Design in Higher Education: From Principles to Practice. She is a popular speaker on how universal and related proactive design strategies can promote an inclusive culture by making learning activities, technology, physical spaces, and student services at postsecondary institutions welcoming and accessible to everyone.
