Students select and research a community agency of their own interest, then develop and present a persuasive speech and call to action on behalf of the organization. This is a student led initiative, giving students a $1,000 grant to distribute to one community agency - the persuasive speech presentation with the best call to action.

Feedback is an ongoing series that aims to enliven the conversation about the writing process. Part reading, part conversation, the goal of this reading series is to provide working writers with a space to read and discuss their work, to invigorate the audience by inviting them into the writer’s process and creative development, and, through our free writing workshops, to provide adults and young adults in our community an opportunity to generate their own work.

Cultural Enrichment Generator Series: 2018-19 (2247) Arts, Culture and Humanities, Educational Support, Health and Wellness Kaneko, Omaha Under the Radar Music Engaged Research Faculty Research None Fall 2018-19 Spring 2018-19 10 0 0 0 0 50 Medical Humanities, Education, Capacity Building, Music/Dance Omaha Under the Radar is a nonprofit dedicated to the production and presentation of contemporary music, dance, and theatre. Through the Generator Series –a concert series created in partnership with KANEKO –Omaha Under the Radar explores concepts that impact us individually and on a collective level, including sound in the natural world, sound and physics, sound and memory, sound and movement, and more. Spring 2019 was the launch of the most ambitious Generator Series event to date: RESILIENCE, a multi-event series of concerts, talks, masterclasses, and open rehearsals exploring themes of creativity in confinement, violence against women, contemporary ideas of femininity, and the impact of incarceration and violence on families. The artists featured on RESILIENCE have direct experience with these themes, and have created generous and engaging works that illustrate the struggle, self-determination, and transformation of their stories.

Bibliophilia: 2018-19 (2452) Arts, Culture and Humanities, Educational Support Kaneko Writing Center Knowledge and Resource Sharing Community-oriented lecture/event None Summer 2018-19 Summer 2018-19 0 0 0 0 0 100 Literacy, Capacity Building, Art With Writer's Workshop graduate (and current Arizona State MFA student) Maritza Estrada, Todd Robinson created (and emceed) a one-off reading at Kaneko Art Museum featuring the two of them and four other readers from the Omaha area. 100 people attended the two-hour event.
