Dr. Gilbert, PhD, is an artist, teacher and researcher currently serving as a Research Associate with the Faculty of Medicine at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. His work explores the relationship between the humanities and medicine and its application in medical education. He earned a BA in Fine Art from Glasgow School of Art, and his Ph.D. in the Medical Sciences Interdepartmental Area (MSIA) program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He was an artist in residence at The Royal London Hospital, England, collaborating with a maxilla facial surgeon and patients as an integral part of their care programming along with.
