Description : Social work leader of NAMI on Campus Club worked with students throughout the year who participated in the September chalk the walk programming and Ending the Silence Presentation to create awareness and education about mental health. The students also participated in Durango Days in collaboration with NAMI Nebraska.

Description : Community Partner Project Name: Linguistic Justice and Latino Health WhatMakesUs Project Destigmatize/demystify mental health in Latino and Black/African American community by having students interview a friend, relative, or any individual that fits criteria. The hope is to get recommendations from the students as a result of their data collection regarding how to better connect to the Latino community through their interviews. UNO students worked with The Wellbeing Partners to learn more about stigma and language in the Latino community. Students conducted interviews in Spanish and shared their results. Description : APPLIED VOICE, undergraduate students will have the opportunity to engage in a service learning project encompassing interdisciplinary collaboration with Central High School students. This service learning project has UNO students perform music that they have learned to Central High students, after which UNO students will teach them the songs by sharing the score of the music pieces with them and having rehearsals afterwards. Central High students will have the opportunity to engage and further their learning with these materials as they perform the music they learn to residents of Aksarben Village. P-16 Project. Description : Students will enhance their essential professional skills for personal and team success through investigating issues in a global context. Explore in-demand professional aptitudes (self-awareness, emotional intelligence, teamwork, communication, and workplace interaction expectations). Through industry/community interaction, explore cultural and business norms and the application of broader perspectives to identify issues/solutions responsive and adaptive to their global context. This semester, students are partnering with Canopy South. Over the course of the semester, students explored this history of South Omaha and the mission of Canopy South. The students visited Canopy South’s office and spoke directly with staff and visit a variety of sites that Canopy South has an interest in revitalizing. Students decided to focus on Upland Park; they worked closely as a team to develop a proposal and presentation for their professor (Dr. Stu Bernstein), Canopy South staff (Juan Padilla), SLA staff, and College of Engineering advisors. Description : Members of UNO’s Freshman Leadership Council (FLC) will work together with Sara Ridgley’s 8th grade Honors students from Nathan Hale Middle School. Nathan Hale students will serve as Secret Kindness Agents this semester.
