Description : The evaluation activities below are designed to build on STEPs work with the PMP Coalition in previous years to provide evidence for the coalition to use in assessing need and providing services. For this work plan, STEPs will provide a community assessment on marijuana in Iowa and Nebraska as well as provide various evaluation services for the PMP Coalition, including an evaluation plan, curriculum consultations, and facilitated discussion on next steps on evaluation.

Description : Promotion/Prevention programs use methods or activities to reduce or deter specific problem behaviors such as bullying, gang involvement or substance abuse; or to promote positive behaviors and outcomes. Promotion/Prevention programs that aim for promoting positive behaviors can focus on employment skills, life skills, or be pro-social activities which are designed to encourage youth to behave in ways that benefit others. Prosocial activity/attitudes programs encourage a youth to behave voluntarily in ways intended to benefit others and fosters this through skills training.

Description : The purpose of this evaluation is to provide a process and outcome evaluation of Heartland Family Service's Healthy Alternatives to Little Ones (HALO) program, and to move HALO toward meeting current evidence-based standards. HALO is an early childhood substance abuse prevention program. We will conduct a literature review, prepare a logic model, conduct a survey of current providers, and conduct a quasi-experimental prospective study.

Description : STEPs will partner with the Metro Omaha Tobacco Action Coalition (MOTAC), a program of Heartland Family Service, to develop an understanding of existing activities through discussions and document review, gain a sense of the program's collective impact through interviews, and provide a final report and presentation to summarize and apply the evaluation findings.

Description : Students and faculty worked with the volunteer coordinator at the agency to conduct an evaluation of the organization’s volunteer program. The aim was to provide the agency with quantitative and qualitative data and feedback from the perspective of their volunteers with the goal of improving volunteer and organizational outcomes.
